Visual
Display Unit (VDU) Assessments are required under the 2007
General
Application Regulations and must be undertaken on all computer
workstations where an employee will spend longer than 1 hour per day.
The
purpose of the VDU assessment is to assess the current ergonomic layout
of
the workstation and its compliance with the 2007 General Application
Regulations to ensure that the user is adequately protected.
Incorrect VDU /
Ergonomic design & layout can lead
to musculoskeletal disorders, repetitive strain injury, visual
fatigue and increased stress levels so it is
important that
a VDU Assessment is carried out by a competent person to identify and
correct any hazards that may exist.
