Dry Riser / Fire Hydrant Servicing / Testing.

A Dry Rising Main is a system of valves and pipework which enables the Fire Service to pump water on to the upper floors of a building. Dry Risers will be found in buildings over 18 metres above ground level.

Our annual maintenance service program to B.S. 5306-1:2006 includes:

  1. Visual Inspection and Cleaning of all Inlet, Landing & Pressure Release Valves:- The Check List items include:- Signage, Valve Door, condition and suitability of instantaneous coupling & washer.
  2. Volumetric Pressure Testing to 10 Bar for 15 minutes, checking each valve on two occasions, noting individual findings
  3. Completion of Maintenance Report / Certificate.

For Fire Hydrants our annual maintenance service program to B.S. 5306-1:2006 includes:-
  1. Visual Inspection and Cleaning of all Fire Hydrants on site:- The Check List items include:- Signage, Hydrant Cover, condition and suitability of coupling & lug.
  2. Hydraulic Pressure & Flow Testing noting individual findings
  3. Completion of Maintenance Report / Certificate

The British Standards 5306 Part 1 outline the procedures for six-monthly inspection and annual wet pressure testing of fire hydrants, to be carried out by competent persons and stresses the importance of regular maintenance of fire fighting equipment.
